John Filias

John is the founder and owner of Jeffreys Creek Land Contractors, Inc., with more than 40 years of experience in landscaping, construction, and property maintenance. He earned an AAS in Horticulture from Essex Agricultural and Technical Institute and began his career as a young entrepreneur providing yardwork and snow removal services. His background includes coastal landscaping, building construction, and estate caretaking. John founded the company in 1985 and has been an active leader in the industry through the Massachusetts Association of Landscape Professionals, where he served as president. He also served as president of New England Grows and holds the Massachusetts Certified Landscape Professional certification.

Paula Filias

Paula manages the administrative and financial operations at Jeffreys Creek Land Contractors, Inc., including payroll, accounts payable, insurance, and daily business functions. She joined the company in 1996 after working in property management and trained under the company’s bookkeeper before taking over full responsibilities. Paula plays a key role in keeping the business running efficiently and supporting the team behind the scenes with accurate financial management and organization.

Laura Thorpe

Laura is a key member of the Jeffreys Creek office team, specializing in job costing, invoicing, plant purchasing, and HR support. She began her career as a paralegal before transitioning into landscaping as a gardener and garden crew leader. After gaining experience in nurseries and state employment, she returned to the company in 2016. Laura’s diverse background in landscaping, administration, and compliance makes her an essential resource for both operations and workforce management.

 

Pat Baker

Pat is the Senior Operations Manager at Jeffreys Creek Land Contractors, Inc., with more than 30 years of experience in landscape construction and site development. He holds a Commercial Driver’s License, Construction Supervisor License, and septic installer license, with a background in masonry and utility work. Pat oversees construction operations, water services, and water feature installation, and plays a critical role in project execution. During the winter season, he manages snow and ice operations for MassDOT contracts.

Peter Macrae

Peter is the Junior Operations Manager, responsible for scheduling, dispatching crews, and coordinating maintenance and irrigation services. He joined the company during the 2015 snow season as a CDL driver and quickly expanded his expertise into irrigation systems and operations management. Peter works closely with clients and leads the implementation of business management software. He continues to support winter operations as a snow removal driver for MassDOT contracts.

Kenny Baker

Kenny is the Site Work Crew Leader and Senior Heavy Equipment Operator at Jeffreys Creek Land Contractors, Inc., with more than 30 years of experience. He specializes in excavation, grading, and site preparation for landscape construction projects. Kenny is highly skilled in operating heavy machinery and is known for handling complex site work with precision. His expertise ensures every project begins with a strong and properly constructed foundation.

 

Nick LaGrassa

Nick is the Masonry and Hardscape Crew Leader, bringing years of experience as a former business owner in the landscaping industry. He leads hardscape installation projects including patios, walkways, and stonework, with a strong focus on craftsmanship and detail. Nick also manages snow removal operations for non-MassDOT accounts. His commitment to quality and understanding of overall project goals ensure consistent, high-level results for clients.

Yovanni Zacarias-Tema

Yovanni is the Landscape Construction Crew Leader, overseeing planting, irrigation installation, and final project detailing. He has been with Jeffreys Creek since arriving in the United States and has developed strong expertise in all aspects of landscape construction. Yovanni is known for his attention to detail, strong work ethic, and customer-focused approach. His team is responsible for delivering the finishing touches that bring each landscape project to life.

Eric O’Brien

Eric leads the Lawn Maintenance Crew, providing expert lawn care and property maintenance services for residential clients. With more than 40 years of experience maintaining high-end estates, Eric is known for precision mowing, clean edging, and consistent quality. Since joining the company in 2010, he has ensured that every property receives detailed attention and a professional finish that reflects the standards of Jeffreys Creek Land Contractors, Inc.

 

Jean Peralta

Jean is the Garden Care and Planting Specialist, leading garden maintenance and seasonal planting services. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and brings more than 30 years of industry experience. Jean manages plant selection, perennial and annual installations, and client consultations. Her expertise in garden design and plant health ensures vibrant, well-maintained landscapes tailored to each property.
