Manchester-based Landscaper Wins Beacon Award
John Filias of Jeffreys Creek takes home prestigious award

Manchester, MA - John Filias, MCLP, President of Jeffreys Creek Land Contractors, is the latest recipient of the Beacon Award, the top honor bestowed by the Associated Landscape Contractors of Massachusetts (ALCM) at this year's annual meeting.

The Beacon Award is given to an individual whose dedication and actions serve as a guide to other members in the landscape industry. "This year's Beacon Award winner is truly deserving," says Mike Lueders, recipient of the 2005 Beacon Award. "John is not afraid to be innovative, to push the envelope and to make changes where benefits can result for those within the industry."

During the ceremony, John was commended for his seven years of service on the ALCM Board of Directors, presiding in 2000 - 2001, plus his continued involvement as ALCM's representative on the Board of Directors of New England Grows!, the green industries fastest growing association trade show. Also noted, was John's recent election to serve on the Board of Directors of the New England Nursery Association, a 100-year-old organization which is undergoing a branding initiative to better serve its constituents and streamline communication between the allied green industry companies.

Other professionals within the industry agree wholeheartedly. "In speaking with other landscape contractors, they all had positive things to say about John,"explains Lueders. "His leadership and compassion for others was a theme I heard over and over again."
