Landscaping Services
It is not often that we don't hear our clients insisting on "Low Maintenance" when it comes to their planting beds. Our designs are inherently low maintenance due to the time and effort spent finding the right species for the location, as well as planting in masses that grow together harmoniously and eliminates empty space. After landscape plantings have been installed the beds are dressed with a layer of mulch to help retain moisture, prevent soil erosion, provide vital nutrients to the soil as it breaks down and significantly improves the appearance of your garden. We also encourage the use of ground covers to fill in under trees and shrubs so that when mature, your landscape is naturally pleasing to the eye. Our professional expertise in design, placement, and installation of landscape plantings using the leading planting methods in the industry serves to tie your structural elements together, adding color, texture, fragrance, and value to your home. The "Green Industry" has grown tremendously over the past twenty five years, and today is a 4.7 Billion dollar industry in New England. It incorporates all firms involved in ornamental horticulture including nurseries, garden centers, lawn care operators, and landscape and tree service companies. In Massachusetts alone, 43,000 people are employed by these firms and generate over 2.6 billion dollars in revenues. (Source: New England Environmental Horticulture Economic Impact Survey - 2009). Many of these companies are small, independent operators with fewer than 10 employees, and a few are large, nationwide conglomerates. When you choose Jeffreys Creek to build or improve your landscape, you get the benefit of having a close relationship that comes with a small firm and the experience and capability of firms much larger in size. This unique quality results in a far superior process and product whose results you can be proud of and enjoy for years to come. From the planting of one tree to landscaping a complete estate, we are your one call to do it all.
There is an age old saying that says "a house is only as good as its foundation". The same is true when landscaping. Good preparation is essential and is made a priority here at Jeffreys Creek. Quality soil is the single most important determining factor in the successful establishment of plant material and lawns. It is home to the most critical part of the plant, the roots, and provides almost all the nutrients a plant needs to grow. Quite often the soil around the foundation of a home is of poor quality due to construction. In other areas of the yard soil may be poor due to natural conditions. Prior to installing plant material we will recommend either amending the existing soil or removing it altogether and adding quality soil to a depth of eighteen (18) inches. We supply our clients with only the best quality topsoil, which contains the proper texture, structure, fertility, and chemical properties to support healthy lawns and gardens.
Planting of trees and shrubs have both a functional and aesthetic role in the landscape. Well designed and well placed trees can offer cooling in the summer months while others can create a windbreak to buffer the cold winds of winter. The use of specimen trees and shrubs can enhance the architecture of the home and act as focal points, lending an immediate mature look to the property. Plantings can provide seasonal color, privacy screens, and enhancement of outdoor living spaces such as patios, pools and terraces. Using plants with multi-season appeal helps a landscape remain attractive throughout the winter months, while massing of plants create rivers of continuity that tie a landscape together. Certain colors of plants when used properly can give the illusion of making an area look more spacious or more intimate and often can act as an exclamation point calling attention to a particular area. Whether you desire a garden to attract birds or butterflies, provide fresh cut flowers, herbs or vegetables, to enhance a shady nook in the yard or to make use of an un-useable space such as rock and ledge, our traditional, natural and artistic design philosophies allow us to create plantings that rival Mother Nature's.
